Another Way of Seeing is a short film created in partnership with Opera Paris. The theme, Opera & Altérité, exploring diversity and otherness in response to the opera’s historically exclusive space.

The story comes from my experience studying in France, where language barriers made me feel out of place—until a visit to the opera house left me in awe. It made me realize that art speaks beyond words.

Short Film 2022

  • 巴黎歌劇院與 Gobelins 動態設計學程的 2022 年度合作短片主題為 “Opera & Altérité” 探討異質性、異化的現象，是為對歌劇院長期以來白人主宰的反動。

    短片創作緣由是我在法國求學時，置身全法文的課堂遭遇的語言困難，卻在參訪歌劇院時，被建築藝術深深所感動，讓我思考到欣賞美是不分語言的，透過短片裡的女孩，進到異質的空間遊覽，最後能夠和藝術作品互動，最後帶走欣賞世界的勇氣。

    Another Way of Seeing 傳遞欣賞藝術賦予人看待世界的獨特角度，是他種觀看方式的意義所在。

The film follows a girl as she steps into a strange, surreal space. When she explores, she begins to interact with the artworks, gaining the courage to see the world in a new way.

The title reflects the idea—art gives us another way of seeing.

All scenes were captured during my visit at Opera Paris. I put some of the happy-sad atmosphere in this short film, remembering the healing moments that art has given to me.
